As Mueller Associates celebrates its 60th anniversary, this first video in a three-part series reflects on the firm’s founding and early years.
Beginning in the 1960s, Mueller established a reputation for taking on complex, high-impact institutional projects—from the Washington National Cathedral and the Smithsonian to the Baltimore Museum of Art. During this time, the firm also contributed to the design and installation of the first solar thermal panels on the White House—an early example of innovation and forward-thinking engineering.
Guided by a philosophy that engineering should serve purposes larger than itself, these early projects laid the foundation for a legacy defined by technical excellence, collaboration, and lasting societal impact.
Told through the voices of Mueller’s leaders, past and present, this chapter explores the origins of the firm—and sets the stage for the challenges and transformation that would follow.
