To best describe this project I must give the back story.
On October 31st, 2005 I left my hometown of Chesapeake, VA and drove to my new apartment in New York City. At the time I could not conceive that I would spend 4 years in the same apartment watching as 6 different roommates came and went. I never imagined that by the time I finally exited the living space Iʼd be slightly sad about never seeing it again.
As of April 1st, 2010 I have less than a month to rid myself of 4 years of living and attempts at hoarding comfort. This project represents 24 hours worth of time in every room that people had lived in at one point.
this video is "Exitus" it represents my last days, my fondest memories, and ultimately a document of a space I occupied that i will never see again. My intention was to create a moving möbius strip, where the viewer returns to the beginning and finds that much time has passed.
This project is a movie created using time-lapse photographic methods and still images. The viewer will travel through the rooms of the apartment through 24-hour time lapses and still images that “push” the viewer into the next room.
