SoMoS, is a site specific multi-media performance spectacle, presented in an urban parking lot in North Philadelphia in October 2012. SoMoS was conceived as a silent nature carnival celebrating the four seasons, with fifteen dancers spread over 6 sites. SoMoS uses four geodesic tents, transformed into performance spaces. Seasonal video and audioscapes are projected on and about dancers performing the meditative branch dances (see below for information on the Branch Dance Series). Large shadows of the dancers are projected against the walls of the tents. Visible from the outside, these shadows create their own performance experience and yet another viewpoint for audiences. Another performance space is the outdoors, with giant video projections of nature in extreme close-up upon the walls of adjoining buildings. A free event, audiences were free to explore the performance areas at their own pace, to allow their senses to be transported into a completely different environment.
