DAGHDHA SPACE (LIMERICK, IRELAND)
A NEW SOCIAL ORGANISM
is 5 years old (2010)
In 2011 Daghdha Dance Company lost all of its funding.
Daghdha Space is a 'by-product' of choreographic exploration and experimentation. In 2004 Daghdha Dance Company adopted a derelict church and converted it into a stunning environment for exploratory dance and choreography.
Daghdha Space has since served as a thriving incubator for contemporary dance as well as for new and wonderful social situations. In fact, we like to think of Daghdha Space as a social choreography in itself; as a continuously challenging social architecture to experience and appreciate dance in.
Daghdha Space is one of the herralds of a new cultural institution: a curated space that is museum, theatre, cafe, lab, auditorium, gallery, library and community centre all at once. For those who have experienced Daghdha Space in full flight it is an essential new form...a new meaningful public space with dance at its nucleus.
