Fishing for herring has been both a tradition and livelihood on the coast of Norway for centuries. It is February and the herring has started its annual spawning migration towards the southwestern coast of Norway. Both humans, cetaceans and seabirds benefit from this rich bounty of winter-fattened herring that serve as the basis for a rich coastal ecosystem. We have joined the fishing boat Hillersøy. Whilst this is an adventure for us, it is simply every day life for the crew on board.
