This 13 minute video focuses on three founding members of the Ottawa Buddhist Society, (OBS) as they describe their early Buddhist life in Sri Lanka and the later transition into Canada over 35 years ago.
The film honours our Theravada Buddhist roots in Sri Lanka and our strong Buddhist friendship with the Ottawa Vietnamese Tu-An Pagoda community. The people in the film give advice for new OBS members and tell how a Canadian monk, Ajahn Viradhammo, came to Ottawa and landed-up staying and establishing a Thai Forest Sangha monastery nearby.
The interview took place in Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 and was ably recorded and later edited by Corinne Baumgarten.
The OBS is very grateful to Anoma De Silva, Asoka Weerasinghe and Nissanka Pussegoda for their many contributions in bringing the customs of their homeland and the teachings of the Buddha, to Ottawa.
