A unique collaboration between British artist Chris Gilvan-Cartwright aka The Baron Gilvan and puppeteer Isobel Smith (Grist To The Mill ). Crossing genres of painting, puppetry and animation Christina the Astonishing explores psychotic states and heightened worlds of the foolish artist merged with the story of Christina Mirabilis (1150-1224) a holy-woman born in Belgium who would endure great physical suffering yet astonishingly remained unscarred. Music compositions by Foz Foster.
Performed at London Suspense Festival 2013 Pleasance Theatre London.
‘This fantastically beautiful show about personal battles of the soul fought and won has a highly original aesthetic and skilfully brings together its component parts of animated painting, melodramatic performance, puppetry, and music. A truly unique piece of work.’
