This piece was inspired by the novel "The Sorrow of War"
by Bao Nihn, in which the main character has the unfortunate job of reclaiming the remains of his North Vietnamese comrades during the war. Made during the time when flag draped coffins were banned from television, this video is an altruistic, yet ultimately, failed attempt to perform the same noble job as Bao Nihn's protagonist. Intervention, whether precise or overreaching, becomes an intrusive and disruptive act.
