The essence of the Coat emerges as the wearer inhabits a tidal zone and mingles with the stories of the land and its inhabitants. The wearer has walked the land for days and years collecting the long forgotten stories held in the land and calls them to be told once more. Phrases of the story are whispered over the images and environmental sounds add depth to what is seen.
This film is a collaboration between Hilary Kneale, artist, Helen Poynor, director and Vicky Vergou, filmmmaker. It was developed with the support of Decoda Summer Dancing and the Walk of Life mentorship programme.
