Tansi and welcome to Natives in the Nineties. I am your host Nola Wuttunee. The Metis people of Alberta who live on Settlements in the central and northern part of the province signed a precedent setting agreement with the Alberta government called the Metis Settlements Accord back in 1989. The Accord granted the Settlements over 300 million dollars over a 17 year period to enable them to make a transition to self government communities. Our guests today are Ken Noskey and Gary Parenteau from the Metis General Council who are here to tell us about the Metis Settlements Accord and its impact on the Settlements.
