Kanye West not only made fun of himself when he appeared on the show in 2007, he also came up with the idea to do so. What was his idea? A sketch in which West interrupts speeches at various award shows. The concept came about after West got into hot water for his behavior at MTV's Europe Music Awards and Video Music Awards. By the way, this behavior preceded West's infamous "Imma let you finish" interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs. On "Late Night With Seth Meyers," Meyers reminisced with West about how the sketch came to be. Meyers told West, "This was one of my favorite experiences at 'SNL.'" Meyers told the audience that he and West wrote the sketch together. The skit has West interrupting the Kids' Choice Awards, the Nobel Physics Prize presentation, and a pumpkin contest. In the clip, as the girl is receiving her award, West suddenly appears with his own pumpkin: "Hell no! I got the best pumpkin. This pumpkin cost a million dollars... It got Champagne in it. ... You got a lot of years, you can win this. I've been doing this too long." He then swipes the blue ribbon from the child. "Life is life," West told Meyers. "And they will give an 8-year-old the best pumpkin at any given time, and you just have to be prepared for these type of things," he joked.
