*** If you need the send Midi via ETHERNET check this out: http://yaskebasi.it/archives/how-to-send-midi-over-ethernet-tutorial ***
Recently I've been busy working on a new audiovisual setup and I needed to send MIDI over a small lan.
I choose MIDI instead of OSC data because MIDI is handled natively by Ableton.
So, I thought it could be of some help for everybody!
README BEFORE PLAYING THE VIDEO:
· I'll use Ableton as a Midi Sender.
· The processing sketch needed to test the connection is at the bottom of the description.
** The line that needs to be changed is
myBus = new MidiBus(this, 0, 1);
Change the second number according to the index of your session, which is printed in the processing console. **
To test the connection, I created a simple Processing sketch that uses The MidiBus library to read MIDI data.
( http://www.smallbutdigital.com/themidibus.php )
So you need to have The MidiBus library installed inside Processing (ask me if you don't know how to do).
Processing is a beautiful and free programming language that you can get here: https://processing.org .
