The outdoor ice tower "Eisturm Rabenstein” in Italy, one of Europe’s most beautiful and demanding artificial climbing structures, was the centrepiece of the 2015 World Championship in Lead which took place 30 January – 1 February 2015.
The event occurs once every two years and winners get to call themselves "World Champions” for a two-year period. The Speed World Championship take place in Kirov, Russia 6-8 March 2015.
Both competitions take place during regular stops of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour sponsored by the The North Face Korea, but the competition is extra hard because of the title that is at stake for a two-year-period.
WoonSeon Shin of South Korea and Maxim Tomilov of Russia earned the right to call themselves World Champions, a title they now hold for two years.
