Friend's International works with marginalised children around the world, providing education, vocational training and a host of other services that benefit tens of thousands of children every year.
Orphanage 'tourism' – where mostly well intentioned travellers are actively encouraged to donate money and presents, visit and directly interact with some of societies most at risk children. This is becoming particularly rife in Cambodia, where unlicensed 'orphanages' appear on a regular basis, profiting on the misery of children — many of whom actually have living relatives — and on the desire of people to do good.
This PSA was created as part of a campaign to encourage travellers and tourists everywhere to consider the implications of their actions, as well as the opportunities for making the types of decisions that are truly in the best interest of children.
