225 players paid the €1200 entry to play the World Championships held in Monte Carlo in 2005. This was the was first time ever that backgammon was televised. You can tell the budget was low because there's quite a bit of voiceover but there's some great action (and interesting experimental graphics and sound effects).
The action is between former pro razz poker player Dennis Carlston and noted world class American John O'Hagan.
Legend Paul Magriel is in the commentary box with John Clark, a British 'pro' player. Presented by kara Scott (now a famous poker personality - this presenting job was actually her first break in gaming and she went on to present a regular poker show for a small UK channel before hitting the big time with EPT, WSOPE and High Stakes Poker)
