On a ripening cherry, rain water will seep into the hollow and split the cherry right from the top. Our growers use helicopters to blow the water off the cherries without damaging them preserving the quality of our fruit. In bigger orchards you might see large Sikorsky helicopters retired from military service. In smaller orchards or those with over at obstacles Heweys and other smaller aircraft are used. We are thankful for our skilled pilots as they fly low over the orchards and carefully maneuver their crafts, saving our cherries so you can enjoy them. Look for our Chelan Fresh Cherries coming soon to a grocery store near you.
