This is another opportunity to celebrate women's freedom to vote. Thirty years ago it must have seemed uphill when eleven women got together to purchase Alice Paul's papers at an auction. One thing led to another and 30 years later the Alice Paul Institute has its fingers in pies, from the local to the state and national and international levels. Join with the celebration. Visit the Alice Paul Institute at AlicePaul.org
Visit the Suffrage Wagon Cafe, the online meeting place everyone interested in the suffrage movement, a remarkable time in history. The cafe has special programs, film, music, and lectures. March 28th is International Swan Day, Support Women Artists Now. Follow the Suffrage Wagon for progress reports on the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial project. And we cover suffrage friendly organizations such as the New York State Cultural Heritage Tourism Network and the upcoming New York State 2017 suffrage centennial celebration.
Suffrage Wagon News Channel is inspired by Edna Kearns, who represents our grandmothers, great grandmothers, family members and ancestors who worked over a period of 72 to win the right to vote for American women. Edna is best known for her "Spirit of 1776" suffrage wagon now in the collection of the New York State Museum. Follow on Facebook, Twitter, email and the quarterly newsletter.
