On February 9 and 10, 2015, the Center for Italian Modern Art hosted a two-day program: "Untying 'The Knot': The State of Postwar Italian Art History Today." (italianmodernart.org/events/untying-the-knot-the-state-of-postwar-italian-art-history-today/#more-1001) Organized by art historians Sharon Hecker and Marin Sullivan, the event was co-sponsored by the Italian Art Society.
Hecker, an independent art historian and expert on Medardo Rosso, spoke of Medardo Rosso's postwar Italian legacy. She is the author of two books, Medardo Rosso: Second Impressions (Yale University Press, 2004) and A Moment’s Monument: Medardo Rosso and the International Origins of Modern Sculpture (forthcoming, University of California Press, 2017). She and Marin Sullivan have also produced an edited volume of the proceedings of this conference, Postwar Italian Art History Today: Untying ‘the Knot’, which will be published in 2017 by Bloomsbury Academic Press.
