A group of veterans who were stationed at Pearl Harbor in 1941 recall the devastating December 7th attack that hurled the United States into war. Produced for the Washington Times on the 70th anniversary of the attack, this project started from my desire to connect with my family's history. My grandfather, Thomas Leroy Kirkpatrick, was the Naval Chaplain serving on the USS Arizona and he was killed in the attack, likely on his way to his battle station in the ship's medical bay.
