"Dots To Lines" is a portrait about Chaim Machlev, a well-known tattoo artist specialized on mandalas, line- and dotwork. It provides insight on several work sessions and accompanies him on different occasions over the course of a year. Carried by the narration of his unusual path that led him from a "conventional" lifestyle in Tel-Aviv, Israel to a very distinct mind set and a cosmopolitan way of life, it underlines his unique style of tattooing which puts the art in the focus, feeds of emotions and the shared experience. We got to know Chaim accidentally in late 2013 when he already lived in Berlin, making a living out of tattooing. We we're catched by his moving story and accompanied him as far as possible until now in early 2015. It took a lot of time due to the fact that we produced the documentary in pairs and that we sometimes weren't shooting for several weeks or months but now after looking back.... the whole thing was worth the trouble.
