Max's Bees Part 1 - Removing the Honey and Brood From a Top Bar Hive

Max's Bees Part 1 - Removing the Honey and Brood From a Top Bar Hive

Ed & Louella Costanza

This video is part 1 of a 5 part series of Max's Bees. Max's top bar hive turned aggressive over the past year. We moved the hive to a remote location and we are going through the process of removing the honey, transferring the bees from a top bar hive to a Langstroth hive, removing the aggressive queen using a queen excluder and giving the hive a new queen via a frame of brood from a known Carniolan Queen. In 6 to 8 weeks this hive should be gentle again. This hive has crossed combed the wax comb making it difficult to remove each frame. You will see the breaking up of the honey comb and brood comb. We are preparing the hive for the transferring of the bees to a commercial style Lansgtroth hive. We will return in the afternoon for part 2.
