If you had only ever heard of NYC's East Village, these are the people you'd imagine there.
Modworld is a now-defunct gift shop in NYC's East Village which sold original low-brow art.
Modworld the film follows the lives of some of the employees here as they struggle with love, life, and art in 2001.
RICK, the cynical boss, has a crusty demeanor but a big heart and is a caretaker of the others.
JOHN, the sculptor. His work depicts cartoon characters in adult or violent situations ("Drugs Bunny", "Ronald McDahmer", "Booze Clues") He's obsessed with his ex-girlfriend, a source of endless ribbing from the others.
CHLOE, the rocker. Close to fame several times, but unstable, battling a debilitating depression.
Lots of wacky East Village types pop into Modworld to share in the madness;
the kind of people middle America might think of, if they were to think of the East Village.
Will Chloe find rock stardom, or even just full-time work?
Will John reunite with his lost love?
It's a tragicomic soap opera of East Village proportions.

Influx Magazine: "...before you know it you are engulfed in the simple story of these art store employees. Simply put, the filmmaker knew how to make you relate to someone you probably don’t know or have as a friend. Now more than ever, using a film to transcend cultures is important."
Geoff Martz, Senior Producer at Nightline: "...It was so satisfying to get to see these slightly lost, slightly damaged people progress through time. It made me feel deeply happy to see them help each other past their demons. The movie has an underlying core of humanity and hopefulness that will continue to make me feel better about life for some time to come."
