The protagonist of ‘Enter the Lovely’ is a young street artist who has been deeply affected by the deprivation of his urban habitat. The film explores how these surroundings affect and influence the individual, and shows how the protagonist manages to escape the mundane and the bleak by imposing his own identity and displaying his creativity on deteriorating walls.
The character uses his unconscious mind as a creative outlet to produce an abstract Utopia which displays his underlying artistic and creative independence. This is his attempt to escape into ‘The Lovely’, a place he can call his own, a place where he can reject the drug fuelled, decrepit destitution surrounding him. Using this desolate backdrop of the urban landscape as a canvas for his individual expression, the viewer will be taken on an emotional journey through the character’s unconscious mind.
