In many cases, I use dissolving sutures under the skin when I close surgical incisions. In these cases, the patient does not need suture removal. In some cases, however, external stitches are necessary to get the skin edges together just so. These stitches need to be removed in a timely fashion or the sutures can leave "rail road tracks". The same goes for surgical staples which I use in rare occasions.
I made this video for my out of town patients who want to return home prior to removal of stitches or staples. Just because you have watched this video does not mean you can start taking your or someone else's stiches or staples. You need to check with me first!
