'Degas in New Orleans.' Degas sings of his remembrance of the time he was in New Orleans. This is the opening scene of the production. The musical was written by Rosary O'Neill, music arranged and composed by David Temple, directed by Deborah Temple. The musical enjoyed its NYC premiere at the Arthur Seelen Theatre of the Drama Book Shop. The production stars Trevor Kowalsky as Edgar Degas, Lucy Makebish as Estelle, (the oldest Musson sister and Degas' sister-in-law), Tom Bloxham as Rene Degas, (Edgar's brother), Patrick O'Shea as Uncle Michel Musson, (the Musson sisters' father), Natalie LaBossier as (Didi, Degas' unmarried cousin a Musson sister), Elizabeth Lococo as Mathilde Musson Bell (Degas' married cousin, the second Musson sister). The production also stars Sara Newcomb (Jo Balfour, Estelle's daughter from her first marriage), Liz Louie (a free woman of color, Degas' second cousin Emily Cuckow Rillieux) and Michey Lynch as America Oliver, Rene's mistress.
