Meet Chef Kevin Bryan from Spike Afrika’s in San Diego! Join him as he introduces the venue and shows off some of his favorite dishes.
Born with a passion for food, Chef Kevin J. Bryan grew up in his grandparents’ bakery, Polly Prim, in Los Gatos, California. Rather than spending his days as a child in day care, he would watch his grandparent’s rolling dough and baking cakes, while stealing cookies and pastries from the counter whenever they weren’t looking. His parents always said that young Kevin’s Saturdays would consist of watching cooking shows instead of cartoons, prompting him to make his first Thanksgiving dinner all on his own at the age of 9.
As Kevin grew older, that passion for food he nurtured throughout his childhood only grew with him, causing him to be the only boy in his high school cooking class. After a stint in odd jobs, Kevin couldn’t ignore the call any longer and at the age of 21 enrolled in the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and became trained in the Fundamental techniques of Classic French Cuisine.
