According to India’s Central Bureau of Investigation, there are an estimated 1.2 million young girls living in India's brothels. Sanlaap North America (SNA) is a non-profit that works to rescue, shelter and empower women and girls who have been kidnapped or sold by their families into the red light districts of urban India.
Sagorika is a brave survivor living at a Sanlaap shelter in Kolkata. She tells her story of being trafficked and shares her dreams and aspirations with us. This is a story of the atrocities of human trafficking, but more importantly, it’s a story about strength, resilience and new beginnings.
