The place of Islam in Scandinavia differs considerably. Scandinavian Muslims have been making the world headlines more frequently in recent years. Islam and Muslims in these countries are also a constant topic of conversation in politics, media and government. These are countries are closely linked to each other through a shared history and customs. A highly organized and influential state church is a fine example of that. Islam sometimes gets a state recognized, but not always well defined, position. Each of these countries have unfortunately experienced problems in recent years, with incidents wherein the image of Muslims is harmed.
