How do you promote a truck that streams video with built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi? You make every TV in America go out on Super Bowl Sunday. On February 1, 2015, that’s exactly what we did to 80 million viewers in one of the most talked-about commercials in Super Bowl history – the Chevy Colorado “Blackout.” On top of that, this Super Bowl to date, was the most watched program in history!
To elicit both a positive and heart-stopping response, we paid careful attention to ad placement. Rather than target the time slots with the highest default viewership during the Super Bowl pre-game or game, we placed the ad where it made the contextual sense: immediately before kick off. It was a risk that definitely paid off.
