La police de Montréal a tenté en vain de contrôler l'immense foule, mais celle-ci a catégoriquement refusé de se laisser dompter.
Plusieurs affrontements violents et autres moments de grande tension ont ponctué la manifestation qui se voulait un message clair au gouvernement Couillard ( et aux autres qui suivront ) à l'effet que les mesures d'austérité ne passeront pas.

The Montreal police tried in vain to control the huge crowd, but it refused to be tamed.
Many violent clashes and moments of great tension punctuated the demonstration, which was intended to send a clear message to the Couillard government (and the gouvernments who will follow it) that austerity measures will not pass.
