See and hear John Goldingay, David Allan Hubbard Professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary, in conversation, riding his bike, teaching, pastoring, enjoying music. Dean of the School of Theology Joel Green remarks on how hard it is to find biblical scholars comparable to John Goldingay and also how difficult it is to describe him since, in our age of specialization, he defies stereotypes: not just a world-class scholar, he reads Scripture as a believer “firmly embedded in the church.” Goldingay describes himself as a pastor first and a professor second. Observations range from Goldingay’s statement that over his 40 years of marriage to Anne, who had multiple sclerosis, he could never avoid the issues of suffering and loss as an academic. On the other hand, his second wife, Kathy, and Joel laugh about John’s colorful socks. We conclude in worship of God.
