"Building Rapport: Lessons from a Hostage Negotiator"
During his 22-year career with the NYPD, Dominick has been involved in more than 200 hostage/barricade incidents, and he has trained law enforcement personnel from more than 500 departments, agencies and foreign countries. He has had the opportunity to negotiate with all types of people, from people with mental disorders threatening to jump off of bridges to trapped and barricaded suspects. Noteworthy negotiations included the release of 105 people aboard a hijacked aircraft and a bank holdup gone bad, where a 12-hour negotiation ended in the safe release and surrender of all involved.
