Performance by Ruggero Franceschini, video by Yulia Shmakova. Miezezdroje, Poland, 2014. Miedzyzdroje is a touristic resort next to Baltic sea. It's Autumn, the performer makes a “sposalizio col mare” i.e. a marriage with the sea, as the governors of ancient Republic of Venice, the “Dogi” used to do. A matriarchal archetypical ritual, transformed during centuries by political and religious power, is moved to another sea of Europe, more hostile and cold. The community which sorrounds the marriage, embarassed or fascinated, is composed of students from Poland, France, Spain, Hungary, Turkey, Russia etc. on Erasmus.
The video of the performance, taken by Yulia Shmakova, is then projected on a drawing of the family tree of the performer, for the forthcoming project White Miscadrines.
