The newly passed state budget allocates $750 million towards the $15 billion budget gap in the MTA's five-year capital plan. Increases in ridership are well documented, as is the decrease in service quality. Some place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the government and say that more funding will not just benefit the MTA but the economy of the entire city.
