Chrysalis 1 and 2 is conceptually based on metamorphosis. It is a 1 year installation for ArtFill in Bryan, TX. The 8'x3'x3' sculptures are suspended in a 10'x10'x10' steel frame and are lit via solar powered LEDs that change color, interacting with the sculpture. There is also sound art (accessible via QR code on site) that is composed of audio samples of frogs and elementary students from Bryan, TX, singing. The original sound art is quadraphonic, and a stereo mix of the full audio is available for free at lukecrawley.bandcamp.com/album/chrysalis-1-and-2. The sculptures are fabricated out of a fiberglass shell covering an internal steel frame.
