This year two new undersea internet cables will land in Ghana. The Glo-1 (640 gigabit) and MainOne (1920 gigabit) cables will increase the capacity of the current connection about 70 times and at the end of 2011 the prices are expected to go down 50%.
AfroChic, the first online fashion store of Ghana, is ready for the growing number of internet users in the country. The e-shop sells African fashion and targets Ghanaian women in the age group of 18 to 35 years.
The goal of founders of Afrochic is to become the largest online clothing store in Africa, but are aware of the fact that they are taking a big risk. At the moment only 5% of Ghanaians are using the internet and they are not used to buy goods online.
