Leaky bodies, bodies that are considered monstrous, and bodies that are seen as pests by society are forced to assimilate into the dominant culture to pass. Menstruating bodies are one example of a body that must conform. Coded behaviors, produced much like products in a factory, are expected to behave "appropriately" in every space, even the spaces that lie on the fringes like public restrooms where private and public meet.
This animation was made using feminine hygiene ads, sketches of a women's public restroom, and foley recorded from a restroom using After Effects and Garageband. It includes sounds from Walt Disney's 1946 educational video, "The Story of Menstruation" , a How It's Made video called "How Sanitary Pads Are Made", and foley found online of factory sounds.
