Girls in rural Ethiopia lack access to and money for something American women take for granted: sanitary pads. And because menstruation is a taboo subject there, girls also feel alone and ashamed during their periods. As a result, many skip school or drop out entirely.
Dignity Period supports the local manufacture and distribution of reusable sanitary pads to Ethiopian girls, and promotes education and research to help break the cultural taboo. Visit dignityperiod.org to learn more.
