Lively "Monty-Python"-style graphics add humor to reviewing key issues of pressure, dose and the sanitary risks associated with gas chlorination. Important inspection points include: determining dose, breakpoint chlorination, regular testing for total and free chlorine residuals, concentration and time (CT) relationship and possible hazards with pressurized and vacuum feeds, dual or single tank systems and crossconnections through pre-chlorination feeds.
Created for the U.S. EPA Office of Water by the National Environmental, Safety and Health Training Association, the "Before You Begin..." series of videos are intended for training and refreshing the knowledge of state drinking water sanitary survey inspectors, just prior to an inspection. The videos in the series often also are used in public community sessions and councils to inform the public about the responsibilities and difficulties faced by local officials in maintaining their public water facilities, particularly small systems.
