Tired of having to “defend” the Science of Yoga, its techniques, ideas and benefits to a few non-believers? Sadly this is going to be a constant challenge for us Kids Yoga teachers. The bottom line is that there is NO place for religion in a KAY class unless you are specifically asked to do so in a particular environment.
That being said it doesn't hurt to learn a little about where Yoga REALLY comes from, why Sanskrit became a part of it and how we can offer these teachings in a modern society, and sometimes, a close-minded one.
Join Momma KAY and her special guest, Reverend Sumati Steinberg, as we discuss:
A little background on Hinduism. One G-d? Many G-ds? What is Sanskrit?
Common core values shared between all religions. Remember, "Truth is one, Paths are many"!
The best responses for you as a KAY teacher to the most common concerns and how to “meet them on their level".
Adaptations for KAY games and activities if you need or want to offer a “Hindu free” class.
What to do if all else fails.
In addition, enjoy some diversity quotes from all of the great religious masters as well as a sample letter to parents and schools who express concern.
