Szeged, the Europe Award winner city, gives place to the 10 days long culinary muster for the 16th time. 150 wine growers participated in the event this year. It was the biggest event of this kind of the region organized in the city of sunshine.
As an essential part of the wine festival, 120 wines were tested in the presence of dedicated judges. As a result of this, the Chateau Teleki Villányi Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 of Csányi Pincészet (Csányi Wine Cellar) has gotten the Special Prize of Szeged. The most beautiful white wine was the Badacsonyi Golgota Cuvée 2008 of Istvándy Pincészet (Istvándy Wine Cellar), the most beautiful red wine was the Villány Cuvée 7 2007 of Sauska Borászat (Sauska Winery). The most beautiful dessert wine award was awarded to the 6-star Tokay wine 1999 of Monyók Pincészet (Monyók Wine Cellar) by the wine judges.
The following wine growers could return home with special prizes: Kékfrankos Rosé 2009, Font Pincészet (Font Wine Cellar) fontpinceszet.hu; Imre-hegyi Nektár 2008, Béla Borászat (Béla Winery) belaboraszat.hu; Budai Riesling 2007, Nyakas Pincészet (Nyakas Wine Cellar) nyakas.hu; Kékfrankos Rosé 2009, Benedek Pince (Benedek Cellar) benedekpince.hu; Kékfrankos Rosé 2009, Frittmann Testvérek (Frittmann Brothers) frittmann.hu; Cserszegi Fűszeres 2009, Újvári Mihály.
The fundamental rules of the cultivated wine consumption became widely known with more or less the same content in the Hungarian wine culture. In any way, the eating during drinking wine is mentioned everywhere. True to this, everybody could find gourmet bites to the wines. The inimitable cheeses arising from the NÁRCISZ BIRTOK bio estate together with the bread “lángos” (oil-fried yeast dough) coming out of the oven of SZITTYA PITA or the pork sausage and chitterlings taking off the smokehouse of GYÖRGY BALÁZSHÁZY were just companion of the prime drinks.
