Visualisation of "an opposition, for 2 groups" (excerpt) by Martijn Tellinga (martijntellinga.nl)
"An opposition" consists of sound-clusters, played by two opposing groups of musicians with different instruments, following an elaborate plan. This plan is not obvious, though, and so their tone and order appears somewhat arbitrary. And yet, these sounds tend to get connected by our mind, after listening to them for several times, into an increasingly "meaningful" dramaturgy. In an attempt to support these properties of the sound, unpredictable (visual) elements were added contrapuntally to the few predictable aspects of it (the continuity of their tones, or their foreseeable onset and end).
