A short film that illustrates the effect that Alzheimer's disease has on the brain. The part of the brain responsible for short-term memory is the Hippocampus. It is also the part of the brain first attacked in Alzheimer’s by Amyloid Beta Proteins, which create 'plaques' and 'tangles' in the brain tissue that break the connections between nerve cells, leading to the cell's death. In the film, the drawings made by the machine are representative of memories in the Hippocampus of a person living with Alzheimer's disease. The element of wind from the fan illustrates what happens when the Amyloid Beta Proteins attack the Hippocampus, leaving memories faded, making them illogical or unrecognisable.
