Firstprize TV-contest for agrojournalists. Copenhagen, DK 2015
"This film is about the effect of and profit from not ploughing the land.
If every other Danish farmer refrained from ploughing their land, it would be possible to store CO2 in the soil, which would correspond to the amount of CO2 emitted by 385,000 cars every year.
West Jutland Farmers’ Association has gathered some of Denmark’s top experts in plough-free farming and they all agree that it is not necessary to plough the land in order to secure a good harvest.
On the contrary, conservation tillage increases the biodiversity of the farmland while it reduces leaching of soil erosion caused by wind and water, the occurrence of insect pests and the use of pesticides.
It only takes one generation to destroy the soil, but much, much longer to build it back up.”
