With a kind invitation by Julia Durkin, director of Auckland Festival of Photography, the "travel'AIR" series by Lithuanian Mindaugas KAVALIAUSKAS will be on exhibit in the 2015 edition of the New Zealand's prime photography celebration. "travel'AIR" is a visual translation of the human experience in the context of modern air travel, the lifestyle, as described by Julia Durkin, so much similar to that of New Zealanders, when they commute with the rest of the world. The photographer, being also a curator, brought with him work of two more fellows, making it an exhibition of Lithuanian photography. Edis JURČYS, formerly a native of Klaipėda, the sole Lithuanian port city, now living in Portland, Oregon, continues the motive of mobility in the exhibition with his series "crossing the WATERS. FERRY", exploring the time spent on urban and short-distance ferries. Donatas STANKEVIČIUS studies the phenomenon of life-long mobility though the series of portraits of "old DRIVERS", whose safe journey back home wraps the metaphor of a lifetime adventure of Lithuanian photography exhibition traveling to New Zealand with a stop-over in Australia.
The project is presented by KAUNAS PHOTO festival (Lithuania) in collaboration with Head On festival (Sydney, Australia) and Auckland Festival of Photography (New Zealand).
