Australia's Next Top Model Opening Titles - 2015

The Opening Titles for Australia’s Next Top Model achieves the energy and excitement of a real fashion show, has the edge of a rock show and uses one continuous camera move. Industrial glam at its finest, our location was a New York style warehouse in the heart of the industrial fashion district of Sydney. The perfect blank canvas, our set consisted of two contrasting scenes: backstage and the catwalk. Just like the models, the stages were dressed to perfection and the lighting explosive and dynamic. Shooting at 100 fps using a DJI Ronin rig for the smooth continuous camera movement. Cut to the new re-mix of the classic Top Model theme, the biggest challenge in post was condensing over 5 minutes of footage down to 45 seconds whilst piecing together multiple shots to create a seamless cut. This was achieved through well-orchestrated speed ramps and stylized lighting effects. Custom made flares were used throughout the sequence to compliment the different set lighting and natural in-camera flares. Each flare was custom made and created uniquely so they would integrate perfectly with each individual shot. The grading was a very involved. In order to grade each girl individually we were required to rotoscope them from the background. We are really proud of how this opener has come together, and enjoyed working alongside Shine from concept to production and post.
