Single screen video – 27'38'
Emmanuelle Waeckerle (voice, drawing).
Sole document of the fourth activation of the PRAELUDERE book of ballades during On Reading and Walking and Thinking… at the Saison Poetry library, Southbank Centre, London, 13th January - 1st March 2015
I sat alone by one of the window of the gallery on the 5th floor of the Southbank centre, at the same spot on four consecutive thursdays, using the PRAELUDERE book of ballades displayed in the exhibition, to map where I was, what I saw / heard.
Traces of these whimsical ballades (drawings, sound recordings and a few images) have become a new ballad and the only remaining document of the event PRAELUDERE in London.
This is part of a new body of work (videos, prints, artist book) exploring the notion of the ballad as being somewhere in between a walk and a song; writing and walking are understood here as simultaneous acts of marking and reading (space); a concept I have explored in the past with SLOW MARCH - The making of a road movie (2002/03) and Roadwork (1996/99).
