This project was made for the motors and music course in 2015.
The sound maze is a two player musical instrument which provides haptic feedback. We used two sliders mounted over DC motors, which when moved, would generate musical notes. A rotary disk was coupled with the movement & relative positions of the sliders, the quality of musical notes and the rotation of disk would change based on the sliders. The slider provided haptic feedback based on their relative position.
A DIY microcontroller board was used to map the haptic forces. The board was based on Teensy and was running a custom synthesizer library for audio output.
