Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum by Claude Debussy
Gradus ad Parnassum was a series of exercises that all pianists did in the 19th century. Debussy wrote this pieces as a bit of a satire of a student playing the exercises. The student starts with his exercise and then his imagination takes over to vary them, daydream and then go back to his exercises and vary them again.
