"we cannot give strength to people in need of protection, but we can give them hope" this sentence was behind my idea of this project. it was made by a dear friend and a mentor who spent many years helping refugees and people in need.
I believe in power of photography and I am myself a photographer. I designed a project that received moral support of the UNHCR that would strengthen the image of women and children in refugee context. so instead of negatively pity them, I would like people the transfer that feeling to proudly defend and support them.
the project is important for me because i have worked on it and it i believe it will leave a great impact once it is finalized. it will also include a media surprise that will contribute to the collapse of many negative feelings in the world.
without your contribution to my project, I will not be able to carry on. any contribution will help me get one step further to my objectives.
the short summary of the project is photography made my children capturing women who positively contribute to refugee society. the photos will reflect the admiration and love of the children towards those women. it will also reflect appreciate of those contributing to society which empowers them.
My project is not limited to one place. however, I will start in one place in order to make visibility to the project where funding will be much easier. The project will first aim the the Syrian Refugee Community. I need your support in initiating this project. the estimation of the budget needed for this project is 25.000 Euros. that budget includes cameras to children, gifts to refugee children, printing costs, travel cost, camera equipment to make a short movie, logistic material for the workshops and others.
I believe that my project will move walls of the way people look usually at refugees regardless whether it is pity or hatred. the project is only a bridge that brings people closer to the realization that refugees are just humans with misfortune that could happen to anyone in this world. the project is also a reminder that we should all support each other and stand for each others.
